BEC Tero Sasana's boast that they would be hard to beat in "Fortress Bangkok" is ringing true in Group A of the AFC Champions League with the Thai league winners just one victory away from the semi-finals.
The heat and humidity of Bangkok, plus the backing of the local fans, have been strong allies for a BEC team who have controlled the pace of their matches with Kashima Antlers and Taejon Citizen.

A 2-2 draw with J-League hotshots Kashima and a 2-0 victory over Taejon Citizen put BEC Tero on top of the standings and a win over Shanghai Shenhua on Friday will see them progress.
J-League의 유망팀인 Kashima와 2-2로 비기고, 대전 시티즌과는 2-0 승을 거둔 BEC Tero는 현재 조 1위로 금요일의 상하이 선화와의 경기가 준결승전 진출을 결정지을 것이다.
"We controlled the game (against Taejon) and deserved the win," said BEC coach Attapol Puspakom.
"우리는 (대전과의) 경기를 주도했고, 이길만했다."라고 BEC의 Attapol Puspakom 감독은 이야기했다.
"The players were very disciplined and stuck by the game plan. If the players can repeat that form against Shanghai on Friday, I'm sure we can win and enter the semi-finals."

Attapol has been delighted at the performance of right-sided midfielder Therdsak Chaiman, named MVP after Thailand's win in last December's Tiger Cup, and is looking for another big game from him against Shanghai.
"Therdsak has done well - he is an inspiration for us. People have been asking what our secret is at home against foreign opposition as we have never lost a game," he said.
"There is no secret - we try to use the heat of Bangkok to our advantage and the local fans give us inspiration."
BEC Tero defeated Shanghai in an exhibition tournament in Brunei last year but Attapol is not reading anything into that result.
"Shanghai have changed their squad a lot since that tournament when we beat them," he said. "But if we can repeat our performances against Kashima and Taejon we can be successful."
Attapol also knows that his side's displays have rekindled memories of Thai Farmers Bank's back-to-back triumphs in the old Asian Club Championship in the mid-1990s.
"Those were the glory days of club football in Thailand," he said. "What we have achieved in our games here have brought back those memories."
